Nick Dooley

Nick Dooley is the founder and lead instructor of Dooley Defense LLC, based in Pierre, South Dakota. With over three decades of firearms expertise, Nick brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his training programs, offering comprehensive instruction for shooters of all skill levels.

As an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, Nick is dedicated to teaching safe and effective handgun use, emphasizing foundational skills and advanced techniques. He is also a certified South Dakota Deadly Force Instructor, equipping students with a thorough understanding of the legal and ethical considerations surrounding the use of force in self-defense scenarios. Nick’s credentials include being a graduate of the prestigious U.S. Army Marksmanship Master Trainer program, a testament to his exceptional proficiency in firearms training and instruction.

With 23 years of service in the South Dakota Army National Guard, including 14 years as a small arms instructor, Nick has honed his ability to deliver disciplined, practical, and accessible training. His military background is complemented by 10 years of experience as a civilian firearms instructor, during which he has developed a well-rounded approach to teaching, catering to both beginners and seasoned shooters. Through Dooley Defense LLC, Nick offers a variety of courses, including Concealed Carry Training, Basic and Intermediate Firearms, NRA Courses, Private Classes, and Virtual Simulation, all designed to empower students with the skills and confidence needed for responsible firearm ownership.
